General information about Zeta (Montenegro)
Zeta is located in the southern part of Montenegro, southeast of the capital Podgorica. The administrative center of this municipality is Anovi. The geographical position of Zeta is approx 42°22′ north latitude and 19°14′ east longitude.
The area of the territory currently, before the demarcation with Podgorica, is 15.305 hectares, and the number of inhabitants is approx 16.000. The time zone is CET (UTC +1) in winter, or CEST (UTC +2) during the summer.
Relief and hydrography
The Zeta area is predominantly lowland, as part of Zeta plains, which makes it suitable for different forms of agriculture. They are located nearby Morača and Cijevna rivers, and Skadar Lake makes her southwestern border.
Land
The land in Zeta is fruitful and very suitable for agriculture, especially for vegetable growing, fruit growing and viticulture. This area is traditionally known for its high-quality agricultural production.
Climate
Zeta has moderate-Mediterranean climate with continental influence. Summers are hot and dry, often with temperatures over 35°C, while winters mild and moist, with with the rare occurrence of snow. The average annual temperature is approx 15–16°C, and the annual amount of precipitation ranges between 1200 and 1500 mm, mostly during autumn and winter.
